"The Deli on Broadway" 2013, Oil on wood, 48" x 60"
This painting is of the deli that was around the corner from my old studio on Franklin street. It depicts Michael Diamond (Mike D) and Steven Powers (ESPO) buying groceries from Spike Lee and was shown at Kravets Wehby as part of Cafe des Artists.
This is Raphael. I believe he owns the bodega on my corner where I buy beer and ice cream and all the other things that one needs in a pinch.
The Rape of the Masters
This project, original conceived for an exhibition at Galleri S.E in Bergen, Norway. The Rape of the Masters paintings are painted over 1:1 replicas of master works from the western canon that were made in China and shipped to Tom Sanford's Harlem studio. The project was originally inspired by Asger Jorn'sModification paintings.
American Garbage, (2015), Oil on Canvas, 74 cm x 62 cm
From time to time I enjoy doing commission paintings for patrons who have a sense of humor and understand that they are getting a Sanford, and thus he painting is not necessarily flattering! Here are a few recent ones, if you are interested it doesn't hurt to inquire: email@example.com
